A PEN FOR CHILE
Sunday, 25 October 2020, was a historic day in Chilean history. In the midst of the Pandemic, people turned out in mass to vote on whether or not they wanted a new constitution. The actual constitution was made during the dictatorship in 1980. The option approving the launching of a new constituent process leading to a new constitution won with 78% of the votes. This was the first referendum after the one who took place in 1988, where the Chileans voted for the NO option, regarding the continuity of Pinochet’s dictatorship.
